Sustainability certainly seems to be the buzzword of the moment in the cosmetics industry. Not only is ‘free-from’ a phrase that is taking the industry by storm, but companies are also looking to reduce their environmental footprint and sell products that have the environment in mind, whether that is through sustainable sourcing, sustainability metrics or sustainable packaging. As consumers become more and more conscious of where the ingredients in their products come from, how their products are made, and what effect they have on the environment, it’s no wonder that firms across the industry are starting to make sustainable sourcing commitments. There really does seem to be a spotlight on sustainability at the moment!
It is no surprise then that in-cosmetics Global – the world’s foremost personal care ingredients event– has designed a new Sustainability Corner to appear at this year’s show at the ExCeL in London. This ‘open theatre’ will allow visitors to explore the latest advancements and initiatives in personal care sustainability. This new space will be interactive, educational, and will showcase the industry’s progress whilst giving visitors the chance to explore the latest trends and biggest developments. The Sustainability Corner will provide inspiration for action in this sector and it reflects an industry-wide effort to develop more sustainable manufacturing processes and a drive to use more sustainably sourced ingredients.
What is Oat Cosmetics’ commitment to sustainability?
Here at Oat Cosmetics, we are proud to say that we are a sustainable company. Our ingredients are produced to the highest standards using modern, sustainable farming practices ensuring full traceability from field to face. We understand the importance of a transparent supply chain and so we work closely with our partners and suppliers to ensure that we remain a trusted source.
This ingredient is a fantastic example of how we work closely with our partners to ensure our sources are sustainable. Our fifth-generation family farmers at a local farm in Hampshire use sustainable and environmentally friendly practices to ensure our ecological values are met and that as little as possible goes to waste in the growing process.
It appears that ‘going green’ is a trend that could be here to stay. To find out more about our commitments to sustainability and the environment, please head to our website.
