Frequently Asked Questions
Glucaveen is a powerful hair active highly concentrated in oat beta-glucan having a proven effect on hair physiology and appearance. The ingredient protects and repairs the hair from breakage. By improving hair strength, it provides thermo-protection, prevents frizz and exhibits antifungal properties. More information on these studies, and the products efficacy can be found in Glucaveen Data Pack. Please contact our sales team at [email protected] for more information.
Beta-glucan is one of two β-D-glucose polysaccharides naturally occurring in the cell walls of cereals, bacteria, and fungi with significantly differing physicochemical properties dependent on the source. Structurally, oat beta-glucan is a linear polymer of glucose consisting of 1,4 (70%) and 1,3 (30%) glycosidic linkages. For this reason, 1-3, 1-4-ß-D-glucan from oats is the most water-soluble beta-glucan. This structure is a long chain of disaccharide units, made up of two glucose derivatives, which enables Glucaveen to bind large amounts of water in the hair to avoid hair dryness. Oat beta-glucans also have the potential to improve hair’s elasticity and strength.
Dandruff is one of the most common scalp disorders, characterised by excessive amounts of dead skin flakes. One of the main reasons that cause flaking is the overproduction of Malassezia, which is a microorganism naturally present in the scalp microbiota. We tested the effect of Glucaveen on the growth of this microorganism. Our results demonstrated that 1% Glucaveen was highly effective in reducing the growth of Malassezia furfur by 25% after 72 hours. More information on the results and the entire study is available in the Glucaveen Data Pack.
As every individual is unique, so is their hair type. The nature and placement of the hair fibres vary as per different ethnic backgrounds. Our technical experts have conducted tests specifically designed to target ethnic hair and the efficacy of Glucaveen over a range of hair types. More information on the results and the entire study is available in the Glucaveen Data Pack.
Glucaveen is a yellow-to-cream powder that can be used in haircare applications and can be formulated with a temperature range of up to 45. For more information, feel free to download the Glucaveen Technical Data Sheet.
