Oat Cosmetics, a UK-based specialist in the development of natural oat-derived cosmetic ingredients, has further expanded its global distribution network into Australia. The company today confirms it has signed Cee Chem Australia Pty Ltd [Cee Chem] as its exclusive distributor for the country, demonstrating the growing demand for natural personal care products from consumers, manufacturers and formulators[1].

Cee Chem, which covers around 95 per cent of the Australian personal care manufacturing industry, will distribute Oat Cosmetics’ portfolio of Ecocert flours and oil. Ingredients include a high-performance colloidal oatmeal, a premium oat oil and the first Ecocert superfine oat flours available to formulators.

The introduction of these oat-derived ingredients to Cee Chem’s current offering of natural cosmetic preservatives, emulsifiers, esters and oils is set to enable the Sydney-based chemical supplier to meet a greater range of requirements from manufacturers for responsibly sourced ‘green’ ingredients.

Cark Maunsell, Director at Oat Cosmetics, comments, “We attribute the global demand we are experiencing for our oat-derived ingredients to the fact that Oat Cosmetics caters for the growing number of manufacturers and formulators which prioritise both ethics and efficacy. Our ingredients are natural and traceable but, due to our patented processing technologies, they also have enhanced moisturising, soothing and rejuvenating properties for formulations with significant consumer benefits.”

Patrick Carey, Director at Cee Chem, adds, “The ‘green’ cosmetics market in Australia is becoming ever more advanced. Manufacturers are placing an increasing emphasis on responsible and renewable raw materials but for a product to simply have natural or organic certification is no longer acceptable to the consumer. We believe that there is a strong market opportunity for Oat Cosmetics’ high quality ingredients in Australia as they allow for the development of vastly sophisticated natural personal care products, in terms of efficacy, appearance and texture.”

This distribution deal with Cee Chem is part of Oat Cosmetics global expansion strategy. Having only entered the cosmetics market in 2010, the natural ingredient specialist now has significant worldwide penetration from North America and Europe across to Africa and India.
