Nearly 100 delegates were present at China’s first ever conference dedicated solely to the use of oat derived ingredients for use in cosmetics.
The whole-day event took place on the 13th July at the Hilton Guangzhou Baiyun in the city of Guangzhou – the epicentre of Chinese cosmetic manufacture. Hosted by Oat Cosmetics in association with our Southern China distributor, Coachva, delegates were treated to the latest oat trends, an interactive beauty bar, Q and A sessions and competitions.
East Meets West
Unlike western culture, which has a deep-rooted knowledge and history of using oats, Asian countries are more familiar with rice and so before extolling the virtue of oats to prospective customers, it is important to educate them about the plant itself. Angus Robertson, Oat Cosmetics’ Business Development Manager led the event, discussing the uses of oats as a food and cosmetics source throughout history, how the link between food and cosmetics is growing via the Gastronomia trend and how Oat Cosmetics has continued to evolve the humble oat through advanced science, including lactobacilli fermentation and bead delivery systems.
With Oat Cosmetics ingredients being used in more and consumer products globally, a showcase of these products was created to highlight how oat ingredients work in formulation and how brands are positioning these products. For delegates it provided confidence that oats were being used and gave them the chance to try the products out directly.
Oat Cosmetics attends a variety of global, exhibitions, conferences and personal care events either individually or with our distributors, throughout the year. Staff are keen to talk to formulators that are thinking about using our range of ingredients and to answer any technical questions.
