The New York Society of Cosmetics Chemists hosted Supplier’s Day at the Javits Center in New York City last week. This was the first time that the event has been held in the city and whilst it was my first time at the event, I have been told that the move was a huge success with nearly 9,000 visitors attending across the two days, up almost 1,000 from the previous year.
My impression of the event, working closely with our US distributor- Charkit Chemical Corp., was that it was a place where people come to do business, it doesn’t have the glitz of in-cosmetics (nor the associated costs, lavish stands and ‘extra exhibitor zones’) but is a place where high-level conversations are held, new contacts created and a great platform from which to do business.
It was great to hear from a vast number of companies that are working with oat ingredients within their finished products – the US market is extremely knowledgeable about the power of oats, perhaps strengthened by the FDA monograph for Colloidal Oatmeal as a skin protectant, and is eager to work with new oat derived ingredients and extracts, so it is the perfect platform for Oat Cosmetics to present from.
The next chapter to host a Supplier’s Day event is California in October and I look forward to reporting back on that event also.
SCC California Chapter 2017 Supplier’s Day Exhibition takes place at the Long Beach Convention Center, 25th – 26th October 2017.
