Today is the third day of the Chinese New Year, meaning the 15-day long celebrations are now well underway. From dragon dances to the Lantern Festival, festivities are taking place all over the world to welcome in the Year of the Pig. To mark the occasion of the Lunar New Year, today’s post will look at two new beauty products recently released in China, both of which contain oats as a key ingredient. The two products, a Moisten Cream and a Lip Balm, were released by Pipidog in January 2019 and claim to be suitable for the whole family.
Moisten Cream – Pipidog
This cream has a “nourishing and hydrating formula to prevent wrinkles, dryness and cracking skin, while repairing skin without leaving any oiliness” – Mintel

Lip Balm – Pipidog
This lip balm is described as “a moisturising formula to repair roughness and prevent cracking of lips, leaving lips delicate” – Mintel

Both of these new products are ideal for use when skin is suffering from intense dryness as a result of the cold winter weather: offering similar benefits to the skin and lips given the incorporation of oat as a key ingredient. Notably, these products use oat imagery on their packaging, highlighting the growing value of oats in cosmetics to Chinese consumers.
As the potential of the Chinese beauty industry continues to expand, key industry events are more regularly being held across the country. From Feb 26-28 members of our Sales and Marketing teams will be attending PCHi China, an innovation-led event for ingredient suppliers and manufacturers of cosmetics and personal care products. The event provides the opportunity for visitors to gain insight into global trends, attend conferences, and network with world-class experts. If you are attending PCHi and would like to discuss our ingredients and their use in products similar to those above with a member of our team, please arrange an appointment by emailing ar@oat.co.uk.
