AvenaPLex, our unique and powerful natural oat active, has garnered substantial interest across the beauty and personal care markets since its launch at in-cosmetics Global 2019. However, further research has now shown that AvenaPLex could also be a highly effective ingredient for use in industrial, animal and pharmaceutical products.
Industrial Products
Industrial and institution products would benefit from the moisturising and protecting properties of AvenaPLex. This could include, but is not limited to, barrier creams, “gloves in a bottle”-type products, hand creams and lotions (particularly for frequently washed hands), sensitive skin products, antiseptic creams and sprays, wipes, hand cleansers, and industrial shower and shampoo products.
Animal Products
Animal grooming treatment and protection products are an ideal application for AvenaPLex. This could include, but is not limited to, equine, bovine or other animal products such as hoof protectors, mud barriers, mud fever prevention and treatment, coat glossers, moisturising cleansers, antiseptic sprays and creams, insect products, sun protection and aftersun products, udder creams, and cleansers and shampoos.
AvenaPLex could also be beneficial in canine shampoos and moisturisers, coat glossers, ear cleansing and treatment products, bulldog wrinkle wipes, and more.
Pharmaceutical Products 
AvenaPLex could be used in a wide range of pharmaceutical products both as an active and as an excipient. This includes, but is not limited to, products for dry skin, eczema, ichthyosis, acne, rosacea, chapped skin and lips, skin irritation and allergies, and barrier products.
Opportunities for use of AvenaPLex in skin delivery systems are also presented in the form of slow or sustained release products, with the polar lipids encapsulating compounds such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and vitamins. Due to the high level of phosopholipids in AvenaPLex, it could be used to produce liposome delivery systems for APIs, such as Acyclovir topical application, and vitamins, such as Vitamin D oral administration, for enhanced skin or digestive tract penetration.
AvenaPLex contains a wide range of essential lipids and antioxidants. This means it could be considered for food supplements across a wide range of products across both pet and livestock markets. This could include food supplements for ducks and poultry with a view to improving bird health and the quality of eggs. Notably, it has also been suggested that AvenaPLex may reduce feather pecking. The properties of AvenaPLex also present opportunity for use in products for dogs, cats and other small animals, not only to improve general health and well being but also to improve skin and coat condition and gloss. AvenaPLex could also be valuable in supplements for large animals including equine, bovine, pigs, sheep and goats for general health, skin, leather, and coat quality.
